Right, it’s December 1st and that means it’s officially the festive season and no one can say it’s too early. It’s going to be a bit different this year, granted. There won’t be a knees-up at work, Christmas markets aren’t open and you can’t have the whole family around on the big day – that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do the stuff you normally do though, treatments included. Here are some extremely valid excuses why you should still do it too, in case you need some gentle enabling.

1 You’re still going to be on Zoom
Let’s face it, Zoom social events will be making a comeback for the festive season which means there will still be ample opportunity to show off your salon-fresh haircut. We’re taking hair inspo from festive food and drink because, well, why not? Toffee-toned balayage, Baileys-coloured blonde and caramel highlights are already trending.

2 It’s the one manicure a year that you don’t get nude
January, nude. February, nude. March, nude. April, nude. You get the picture. If the festive manicure is the one time of the year you reach for the reds or even, dare I say, the glitters, then you simply can’t miss it. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy – an accent nail, a metallic half-moon, a tiny glitter dot, that kind of thing. Need some inspiration?

3 It makes you feel good
Pretty simple, really. Heading to the salon makes you feel good and after the year we’ve all had, I think this is the least we deserve. Taking an hour out of your day to indulge in some me-time (massage, anyone?) will lower stress levels and in turn improve your sleep and your skin. That’s a result.

4 Your skin could use the TLC
Hands up if you tend to overindulge just a little bit (ok, a lot) this time of year. Unfortunately for us, chocolate, alcohol and cheese and are all culprits when it comes to diet related-breakouts. Combine that with mask-wearing, colder temperatures and present shopping-induced stress, your skin might be looking a little lacklustre. Nothing a facial can’t sort out though

5 You'll be supporting salons
If you’re not already sold (firstly, how?), this one’s a winner. Some salons have been shut for longer than 24 weeks this year and, needless to say, they’re struggling. Booking in for your usual treatments (festive or not) helps them get back on their feet. Leaving a review and liking, sharing and tagging on social media are also great (free) ways to support your favourite salon.
