Today’s the day that salons in Ireland reopen their doors and if that’s not a Christmas miracle then I don’t know what is. Actually, come to think of it, if you managed to get an appointment this side of the new year that’s also a miracle because calendars filled up f-a-s-t. With that in mind, we’re going strategic. Think long-lasting treatments that will see us through to 2021, no problems. Here’s what’s on the list.

1 Lash lift and tint
An absolute no-brainer. The tint darkens your lashes to make them look thicker (like you’re wearing mascara) while the lift bit straightens them at the root. This curls them upwards, making them look longer. Honestly, you’ll be surprised how long they really are. And, best of all, it lasts for up to 8 weeks, so there’s plenty of time to pre-book your next appointment.

2 Balayage
If there’s one winner of 2020 (no, not Amazon), it’s balayage. Going through a 4-month lockdown has really shown us just how long balayage can stay looking pretty much salon-fresh. Toffee tones are the one for winter, with face-framing highlights for a halo-effect around the front. You can get away with refreshing your balayage as little as twice as a year.

3 Brow lamination
Another one you need to try if you haven’t already – especially if you like a fuller brow look. The treatment uses two solutions; the first softens the hairs to prepare for lamination, the second restructures the hair to keep them in the desired shape. They’re also tinted, to add thickness and structure. Results last around a month.

4 Keratin treatment
We might be clutching at straws here but one good thing to come from 2020 is that we used less heat on our hair and upped our masking routine. Next in the hair health mission? A keratin treatment. It’s an investment, but it’s worth it. It nourishes and hydrates the hair by adding keratin, making it smoother, healthier, shinier, less frizzy and protected from damage. With proper care, results can last 4 months.
